About this image

30 Doradus, located in the heart of the Tarantula nebula, is the brightest star-forming region in our galactic neighborhood. It is home to several million young stars; among which live the most massive stars ever seen. The nebula resides 170,000 light-years away in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a small, satellite galaxy of our Milky Way. No known star-forming region in our galaxy is as large or as prolific as 30 Doradus. The image comprises one of the largest mosaics ever assembled from Hubble photos.

Printing and Framing

Printing

For best results, we strongly recommend that wall murals be printed at a photolab or photo store. Make sure the photo service you choose has the technical ability to produce the quality of print that you desire. One 20"x30" panel will average $25. We suggest testing your chosen photo service by ordering some smaller prints first.

Framing

These images have been designed for narrow frames without mats. We recommend hanging the images 1/2" to 1" away from one another.

Download 15 Panel Murals

80" x 48" Mural (6-foot 8-inch by 4-foot)

Each of the 15 panels will fill a 16" x 16" frame. Ask your printer to use the 16" x 20" paper for each panel. A map showing the panel's orientation will be printed on the paper, which you will need to cut off to make a 16" x 16" panel.
